This is proven by the auctions held to expose more of these ‘trees in pots’ which is the literal meaning of bonsai. Bonsais are basically vines, shrubs or in tree form. It is usually mistaken to be just a small plant called ‘dwarfs’. They are normal plants with their seasons whether they are flowering or in the season of shedding leaves. They also enjoy the sunlight, natural winds, rains and other natural changes in the season. Letting them grow, being nourished and purely confined at our homes requires them also exert more effort to adjust with all its unnaturalness. Remember that our home has artificial lights and the humidity is quite low therefore, it is important to place your indoor bonsai trees where it is conducive for growth.

Many beginners who are into indoor bonsai raising fail to understand that regular pruning keeps it minute stature. Failing to prune a bonsai tree will allow it to grow to be like any other garden tree. Each bonsai tree also varies in height ranging from a few centimeters to less than a meter though if not pruned it can grow up to 50 meters in height. There must be no boundaries or specific rules in raising your indoor bonsais. Every gardener can have his own goal that may serve as his inspiration in growing the tree. Using the tree as an art form is not a bad inspiration at all but remember that this medium is a living thing. The only important rule for every beginner is how you can maintain its shape and life until much confidence develops in you as you go on.

Watering your bonsai trees must be on an adequate basis. Most common problems about raising bonsais are because of lack of water thus killing the plants instantly or if not, causing bad damage to them. Adequacy of water means that it must not be so much but neither too little. Daily checking the plant will allow you to monitor whether there is a need for more water or not. It is best to water the plant only when the compost surface has started to be dry. Overwatering the plant may lead to its suffocation.
At times, allowing your indoor bonsai trees to have their freedom to grow results in its best condition. Remember that, you are just to monitor their growth and help provide what they need but you can never impose pressure to them on what and how you want them to become since they, themselves, have a life of their own. Never rush into styling them the way you desire if they are not yet ready for it. It is also not bad to seek advice from experienced indoor bonsai raisers to help you gain insights on how to take care best of this creature in your possession.
